Deep Partial Lunar Eclipse - Thursday Night

A deep partial lunar eclipse will be visible in Gilmer, TX, on the night of Thursday, August 27, 2026.
At its peak, about 93% to 96% of the Moon will slip into Earth's dark shadow, turning a striking coppery-red color. You do not need special eye protection to watch it. 

Timeline for Gilmer, TX

    • Penumbral eclipse begins: 8:23 p.m. (faint outer shadow; visual change is very subtle)
    • Partial eclipse begins: 9:33 p.m. (the dark "bite" of Earth's main shadow becomes visible on the Moon)
    • Maximum peak: 11:12 p.m. (the deepest shade of coppery red)
