Encouraging and assisting your student to achieve perfect attendance during the school year is a great goal to strive for.  Many students have been able to achieve perfect attendance throughout their school career with parental assistance and support.  However, students may become ill and will miss school.  What do you do in case your student becomes ill and must miss school?  Please see the attached flyer, 'Attendance Matters,' to learn what to do in case of an absence, who to report an absence to, how you can submit an absence excuse, and what constitutes an excused/unexcused absence, what the law states about absences, and what Funded Absences are.  

You have entrusted your most valuable gift to Gilmer ISD; however, we cannot effectively do our job without your child being present and in class.  Thank you for your help and assistance in ensuring your student is in class everyday.
